Just want to mention that a wonderful, kind and simple man passed away this week, my uncle Herman Faddis.
This was a man that was raised and stayed in a different time in the history of this fine country. He left the farm as a child, went to the city to make a living. Three marriages later, four kids and a lot of challenges and disappointments he decided to move back to the farm and live off the land as he was raised to.
This is the kind of man that once came to visit my family when we lived in Michigan. Being that Michigan borders on Canada and since he had never been there he went to visit. Crossing the border became a slight problem when the customs agents found his revolver that he carried everywhere. What’s the big fuss about, he asked.
That was my uncle Herman.
Rest in Peace Uncle Herman (1936-2011)
